Thank you so much to all those listers who took the time to give me advice, which I have followed.

I have tracked Walter Shead to being born in Epping Essex in 1845 after visiting LDS yesterday. No parents yet, but am working on it. I did find a couple of missing children as well born in NZ. Came home with a smile on my face!

I have just been surfing through the Genuki archives and found an email sent in 1997 about a William Shead, Master Mariner of Wivenhoe, Essex in the 19thC. Couldn't believe my eyes. Immediately replied to see if they are part of the same family, and am hoping that the person has not changed his email address!
