Norman,
Thank you for the warm welcome! I will visit your site and am sure I will
learn much from it. Even though I have been at genealogy for a long time,
it does not mean I have learned everything. I am submitting the little I
have on my wife's (Karen) HIBBERT and MOOR family from Stockport, Cheshire,
England. If anyone can help on this line, I would be very grateful.
Thank you,
John Feagin, Sr.
Descendants of James Hibbert
First Generation
1. James Hibbert was born about 1804 in Stockport, Cheshire, England and
died
after 1842 possibly in London, Middlesex County, England.
James married Elizabeth Moor on 25 Dec 1829 in Stockport, Cheshire,
England
(1).
Children from this marriage were:
+ 2 M i. James Hibbert was born on 12 Dec 1842 in Stockport,

Second Generation (Children)
2. James Hibbert (James 1) was born on 12 Dec 1842 in Stockport, Cheshire,

James married Ann Green, daughter of Francis Green and Martha Sheppard, on
19
Nov 1865 in Stockport, Cheshire, England.
Ann was supposedly a Welsh shephardess. The family tradition has it that
James was disenherited by his father for marrying "beneath" him. It was
for this reason that they came to America.

Marjorie married George Meredith.
11 F ii. Pauline Hibbert was born on 26 Jul 1897 in
Leominster,
Worcester County, MA and died on 4 Nov 1901 in Fall
River, Bristol County, MA.
Pauline was a wonderful little girl. Just before she suddenly
died, she had a photograph taken and there were angels in the
background. This poem appeared in her obituary:
A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is stilled. A
place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled. God in
His
wisdom has recalled - The bud His love hath given, Although her
body
lingers here, Her soul is safe in heaven.
The Hibbert family was never quite the same after Pauline's
death.
It's impact was felt for more than a generation.
+ 12 M iii. James Howard Hibbert (Still Living.)
James next married Emmaetta I. Hodge, daughter of William Harvey Hodge and
Unknown.

Annie married Frederick Gilbert Arbing, son of David Arbing and Lavenia
Stitson, on 26 Sep 1894 in Fall River, Bristol, MA.
Frederick Arbing was known to Karen Hibbert as "Grandpa Arbing". He
was
an excellent carpenter and was a cabinet maker by trade. He taught
James
Hibbert much of what he knew about the trade. He outlived his wife,
Annie
Hibbert. He was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada. He moved to San
Jose, California because of the climate and the work. He was well
loved
by all. He died of coronary thrombosis, commonly known as hardening of
the arteries. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose,
California.

According to Lavinia's death certificate, she originaly worked
as
a cashier in a grocery store in Massachusetts. Her father was
Frederick Arbing. Lavinia was born in Canada and never married.
Her mother was Anna Hibbert. She lived in San Jose, California
for
the last 8 years of her life. Unfortunately she contracted
tuberculosis and died 7 months after getting it. Her death
certificate also states that a contributing cause of her death
was
"overwork". She is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose.
14 M ii. Bartley Hibbert Arbing was born on 21 Dec 1899 in
Fall
River, Bristol, MA and died on 18 Jan 1990 in
Hillsborough, San Mateo, CA.
"Uncle" Bartley was a gentle man of many talents. He was
actually
a cousin to James Hibbert and family. He and his wife, Edna,
were
deeply in love until the end of their lives. Bartley was an
expert photographer. When he became tired of photography as a
hobby,
he turned to gemology. He was an expert at faciting real and man
made rough gemstones. He made Karen a special facited blue gem
stone which she later had set and used as a necklace. His house
was beautiful and he had gems and rocks and minerals displayed
throughout.
He was retired as an executive with Ellis Elevator company. He
used to kid about his job having it's ups and downs. After
Bartley
passed away, Edna suffered his loss for the remainder of her
days.
We were happy in a way to see her pass on to be with her beloved
husband again. No children were born to this marriage.
