I have my 3x great grandmother Sarah Potts 1807 and her brother Robert
marrying in 1806 in Little Budworth by license.
An earlier ancestor did the same thing ,same village, in1789 ,The next year
her brother married by banns

Why would licenses be issued? Shotgun marriages?
