Your relatives may well respect your wishes, but I'm afraid you might be
defeated by the medical school. While they do accept 'bodies' bequeathed to
them, they are not obliged to do so and often they have more 'bits' than
they know what to do with. (You'd be surprised how many people opt to do
this) There are certainly cases where the answer is "Thanks, but not
thanks."

If this is what you want to do, please speak to the establishment in advance
to ensure that it will happen. You will definitely have a better chance with
a medical school, but you can't count on it. The general rule is that your
'bits' are used and they will then arrange a funeral which relatives may
attend or not, as they wish.

Having said that, the recent cases at Alder Hey and Bristol are leading to
significant changes in this area of the law.

Personally, I'd go for a cremation and then have my ashes shot off on the
end of a rocket!
