The registrars must get notification from the hospitals of babies born
there. My parents dallied in registering me, as apparently the registry
office was shut on their first attempt. Shortly before the forty-two days
were up they received a letter threatening them with a court summons for
non-registration if it was not completed. It worked and I was registered
exactly 42 days after my birth. This was in the 1960s.
It also makes the birth difficult to find for any potential future searcher.
Not only is the name very common, but I am registered in the wrong quarter
and in the registration district of the hospital, which was different to my
parents normal residence.
Regards
Julie
