In trying to find the marriage of my
great-great-grandfather I came accross that of
John Burgess to Sarah Burrow at Bowden in 1823.
They married by licence and in the allegation John
swears to being of the age of 21 years and
upwards, a bachelor, and Sarah swears to being of
the age of 40 years and upwards, a widow.
(unfortunately this leads me to the conclusion
that they are not the couple who went on to have
seven children over the following 20 years, so if
you come across a John Burgess marrying a Sarah in
about 1823 in that area of Cheshire please let me
know).
