Charles,
Cheshire towns on the Mersey were key targets - the docks at Wallasey and
Birkenhead and all the industrial areas - as well as Liverpool, Manchester
and the industries on the Lancashire side of the river.
There is a 3 volume work on the Blitz that describes every raid on
Britain. Some time back I went through and extracted all the references to
raids on Wallasey, my home town and I noted nearly 300 air raids that
impacted on Wallasey.
Our family was bombed out 3 times and, as a toddler, I was told our
neighbours had gone away for Christmas and taken their house with them!
I don't have the book reference to hand but if anyone requires further
details I can look up the publication details in our local library.
