Hi Marg, just to add to the definition of a Pavior, there were several types;
Street Pavior who laid paving stones, flagstones, bricks, etc. in a bed of
mortar or cement, for the pavement or sidewalk.
Sett Pavior who laid stone setts for roadway surface.
Tar Pavior who spread tar and stone chippings for the roadway surface.
Wood Pavior who laid wood blocks to form the roadway surface.
