It was Pye Ash in the 1881 census RG11 Piece 3948, Folio 38 P6.
Samuel CASEY and family, all born Bosley, farmed 162 acres employing 2
men.
Mother-in-Law Sarah BRADFORD from Gawsworth.

Hello Keith,

The Pie Ash is a farm in Bosley. It is now spelt Pye Ash and it has
been in the hands of the Gilman family for as long as I can remember. I
went to school in Bosley with several of the Gilman children. there were
thirteen of them. The farm is on the left hand side of the road as you
approach Bosley Crossroads travelling from Leek to Macclesfield. I
think that some of the outbuildings have been converted in to holiday
accommodation. Such is the state of our farming industry that farmers
are having to diversify.
