That would make a lot of sense Natalia. the family were not well off and he was buried in a common grave. Could well explain it.

Just a thought - if he died of a recognised medical complaint, could
he have given permission for his body to be used for medical teaching
or research purposes. I believe that under those circumstances the
body could be returned to the family for burial and/or costs of burial
paid by the hospital/organisation/institute/university etc.
