Subject: [CHS] Address in Portwood, Stockport in 1918
Date: Sat, 9 Nov 2002 08:57:57 GMT
Well, I am excited. After years, and I mean years, of running into dead ends
about a family in Stockport, I now have a lead to follow.
According to the information I have from a letter written by an American in
July 1918 (he was the son of an English immigrant), a cousin "Nellie" was
about to be married to an English sailor. Her address was:
33 Victory Street, Portwood, Stockport, England
Nellie's real first name may have been Ellen. Her maiden name may have been
Burgess; certainly either her father or mother was a Burgess.
Can anyone tell me how I could find out who was living at that address in
1918? Thank you for any help.
