Walsall has a Local History Centre which has a mass of local historical and
genealogical data. I have never visited it but have used a local researcher
and the staff have provided me with some limited research. For instance
Walsall is just about the only place in the UK where the 1801,1811,1821 and
1831 census records have survived. They have very limited data but could be
of some help. I picked up an address from the 1831 census. There is also a
local name index and will index, plus some apprenticeship records for those
apprenticeships which were able to avoid paying the usual tax. The address
is;-
Walsall Local History Centre,
Essex Street
Walsall WS2 7AS
Tel. 01922 721305
email;-
Walsall is in Staffordshire which has a particularly good burial register
which may be of help. I came accross some church yard surveys for Walsall in
the SoG which proved MOST helpful as they showed up family groups. They may
well have copies at Essex Street. HTH. Ted Lake.
