I was churched in 1971 and 1974, after giving birth to my two daughters. After making arrangements with the Vicar, I just went into church on my way home from hospital, I took my babies with me, and my husband. The Vicar performed a simple little ceremony, lasting only about five minutes. I do seem to remember something about cleansing being mentioned, and thanks to the Lord for a safe delivery. I do remember it being very touching, and a lovely feeling after. My mother did tell me that I could be churched after the births, but she made no demands on me. and left it entirely up to me to make my own decision, and I feel it was the right one.

Pity this generation don't feel the same, my daughter was not churched after the birth of my grandchildren.

Regards Sheila
