Yesterdays is a selection of stories appearing in the Ashton Reporter 100
years ago. This week's stories include alleged cruelty to a mare, a letter
of complaint about speeding motor cars, more on the children being sent from
the workhouse to live in Canada, more deaths at New Moss Colliery, a son who
stole from his mother and a cockerel killed in a struggle for ownership by
two men.

The 'walking craze' continued and I have included a story about a race from
Ashton to Denton and back primarily because of the young age of some of the
successful competitors. Also two letters about the non-appearance of the Oxo
car to provide refreshment for the walkers from Buxton to Macclesfield.
