An interesting item sent to the Shropshire list today:

According the UK Financial Times there may be another Census in the UK in
2006.

Quote : "A new population survey could be held in an attempt to rectify the
shortcomings of the 2001 census, the government's statistics watchdog has
said.
Professor David Rhind, the new chairman of the Statistics Commission, said
he
was considering calling for a new population survey in 2006 to meet the
objections of local authorities, which have complained of huge mistakes in
the
results. The census two years ago - which cost more than £250m and suffered
a
range of operational problems - is hailed by the Office for National
Statistics
as "the most accurate count of the UK population ever".
