Subject: [CHS] "F.....Smith", an occupation ??

Looking on a birth cert recently, and found the father's occupation as (what
looks like) "F......smith". (where the dots were was a squiggle)

Any idea's, usual problem cert from 1870 ish and handwriting was dodgy to
say the least.
