Ian and Jim thank you for the information on Great Morton Hall, Mow Cop and
the Macclesfield, I was surprised to see that the castle on Mow Cop was a
folly, now I got egg on my face as I told my partner Sue it was probably
built to protect the local area from invaders as it had a prominent position
overlooking three counties. Still some you win and some you lose but being
Congleton born I know that will interest Sue. I would also agree with your
comments on Little Morton Hall, although we have not visited it, having
passed it many times it certainly is an impressive building and a fine
example of Tudor splendour
