Hello list,

My 2 x ggrandfather James POTTER and his wife Charlotte nee CROFT were married in Liverpool, Lancs in 1848. In 1861 they were living in Much Woolton, Lancs.

I have searched high and low for them around these areas in the 1851 census without any luck at all, and have checked the Liverpool and West Derby surname indexes without luck either.

I wonder if they were across the water in Cheshire at that time. Are there any 1851 surname indexes for the area?

I would really appreciate any help with finding them as it would provide me with more information on earlier children.
