I've just checked the overseas indexes and there's nothing
to match what you're seeking.

The only Wilkes entries pre 1870 are

James Wilkes Marriage 1860/67 in Hobart and the birth of
(presumably his son) James Joseph WIlkes also Hobart 1868/69

These cover all the military indexes at the ONS from 1761
