John et al, You can certainly ask, and I would recommend that you do ask
, for a photo copy .
When you get a typed or written copy you do get all the info off the
register.
The registrar must by law give you a true copy of what is in his/her
registers.
HOWEVER, sometimes the writing is not all that clear and he/she has to
make a judgement on what they are seeing, and that is where errors can
creep in.
On the other hand some people have been know to be upset by a photo copy
as they cannot make out some word or words and would have preferred the
registrar to make the judgement on what the word(s) were
Personally I prefer to make that judgement myself

John, when I write for a certificate, I always include a request in my
letter to send me a photocopy if at all possible. Some register offices
do
not have the equipment, and so they send the hand- or typewritten certs.
Having said that, I have always believed that even the hand- and
typewritten
ones had ALL the information from the original, so if the certificate
you
received does not have the street address, it probably was not on the
original either.
