Dear Listers
Many years ago I found the marriage of my husband's 4xgreat grandparent's
marriage James BIRTLES to Hannah SAXON in 1772 which read as follows.
Groom- James Birtles, Tailor & Bachelor at Astbury Parish
Bride - Hannah Saxon at Astbury Parish.
Married by Licence
On 20th Day of July in the year 1772
Witnesses Aubin Minshull & John Clark.
Unfortunately when I first began research I did not record the film numbers
although I do have a reference MF183/3.
I have been told that the parish record should tell where the bride and
groom were from.
If anyone has access to the parish record for this time period at Astbury
which I believe to be St. Marys could I please ask if they could possibly
see if the place of birth is shown for James & Hannah as there are so many
James Birtles'.
I am hoping James was from Siddington as this would give me a great lead
into showing that his parents were Hugh & Jane BIRTLES nee Hough.
Thank you for any help.
