Thank you so much "blythswood" for your help with my US census query.

How frustrating - from that limited information I still can't tell if he's
from my Gwersyllt family. But thank you ever so much for supplying it.

On the 71 Wales census Robert was a 14 year old scholar at home and his
father was a Coal Miner at the time (even though he lived at the Red Lion
and in later censuses he was shown as the publican of same establishment).

I guess this may well be one of those mysteries that doesn't get solved.

But thanks again for your help.

The 1880 US Federal Census has an English-born 23 year-old Robert WOOLLAM
living in Pottsville, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. (Roll T9_1193).
I regret to say he's a prisoner in the county jail.
