Macclesfield Station (Hibel Road) was operated by the London and North
Western Railway from 1849 , but the station was also connected to the
North Staffordshire Railway from Congleton.
There were also stations in Maclesfield serving the Manchester,
Lincolnshire and Sheffield Railway/ North Staffordshire Railway joint
operations. This became known as the Macclesfield Bollington and Marple
Railway, and their station was Macclesfield Central.
Most of these became part of the London and Midland and Scottish
Railway from 1921 until nationalisation. though the MLS became the
Great Central Railway and formed part of the LNER ( London North
Eastern Railway)
For records of employees, you need to check in the Natonal Archives
They have a leaflet you can download on tracing railway employee records
