Ray if you have a FHC in your area the Criminal Registers are on microfilm.
However the index which only goes to 1840 is not circulated to the Centers.
The registers themselves are by year and alphabetically by county. They go
up to 1862 even though the title states otherwise. Be warned however that
you would have to know the year of conviction which is not necessarily the
year that he appears in the census. If you can locate an index and get a
lookup for him it would save paying for many rolls of film.
