Subject: [CHS] kennel lane
Hi Ray,
It's in the now seperate parish of Sandiway. If you "Google" for Kennel Lane
+ Sandiway, you'll see it's stll there and has a rather unfortunate current
history.
I should imagine that it got its name from usage as a Kennels at one of the
properties along its length.
Fred H.Crossley's "Cheshire" of 1949 notes - "but by 1798 kennels were built
at Sandiway for the hunt, where they still remain" you'll need to do a
little more digging but I suspect the kennels may have been part of the
Smith Barry estate.
Regards,
Elaine.
Hello listers. According to the 1851 census of Cheshire my g.g.g
grandfather lived at 92 Kennel Lane in the parish township of
Weaverham.Could anyone please tell me if Kennel Lane still exists and what
might the name of the area be now known. Thanks. Ray
