Subject: Re: [CHS] Unusual Christian Name?

According to Dent's "Who Who in the Old Testament" Hatita is a Biblical name, date unknown, and Hatita was apparently an ancestor of a family of gatekeepers of the Temple who returned to Judah with Zerubbabel from exile in Babylon, and he is mentioned in the Book of Ezra ch 2 verse 42,
"The sons of the gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of HATITA, and the sons of Shobai, one hundred and thirty-nine in all. "
and the book on Nehemiah ch 7 v 45.
45 The gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum,
the sons of Ater,
the sons of Talmon,
the sons of Akkub,
the sons of Hatita,
the sons of Shobai, one hundred and thirty-eight.
The book also gives several similar names - HATIPHA, HATTIL, and HATTUSH and all are mentioned in Ezra and Nehemiah as descendents of people who came back from Babylon with Zerubabbel, so it possible that the prefix "hat" had some meaning in their local language
Hope this helps
