If you mean Cordwainer, no it wasn't exactly the same. A Cordwainer could be
involved in any activity making articles from leather, including bags,
garments etc, and sometimes bridle/saddlery though" saddler" was more
commonly used for the latter.
Cordwainers would buy their leather from Tanners whose job was to convert
raw hides/skins into leather.
