Cheryl, assuming Charles must have died may not be right. In 1883 my
husband's gr-grandparents went to Canada, apparently intending to
settle. By that time there were seven children, the eldest not yet nine.
At least three of the children were 'farmed out' amongst the relatives
remaining in Dublin ... the second, third, and sixth children aged six,
four, and almost two.
Two more children were born in Canada, but the family returned to Dublin
in late 1887. I have no idea how the family intended reuniting everyone
if their plans to settle had worked out!
