Hi Rosemary,

When I first found this entry for John Culloden, my immediate thought was he could well be the John residing with Patrick Culloden in Macclesfield on the 1851 census.
I entered the House of Correction, Knutsford into my search engine (google) and found it to be a grim place indeed, but as we know, people were incarcerated in those days for the smallest offence.
I contacted the local library, spoke to a very nice helpful lady who actually rang me back to inform me there were no records of prisoners available that she could see - however - I shall be making a trip to the Cheshire Record Office next week and will endeavour to look into this further.

Warm Regards,
June
