The informant has to be a relative, someone present at death, or the person making arrangements for the funeral e.g. the executor of the will. My mum recently registered a death, there were no relatives and she was not present at the the death, but as one of the executors she was allowed, the other executor was a solicitor and he could also have registered the death if my mum didn't want to. So O W H Atkins could have been someone at Cheadle Royal, family member or Executor. Funeral directors are not allowed to register deaths.

Subject: [CHS] Informant OLIVER WILLIAM H. ATKINS Cheadle/Wilmslow Help Please

Hello List,

I hope you can help me identify this chap.

I have purchased a Death Certificate for one of my husband's ancestors.  She
was a widow, DORIS WILCOX 1962 Cheadle Royal, Cheadle (when and where) and
the informant was named as O.W.H. ATKINS and it read " the
body to be cremated 34 Grange Park Avenue, Wilmslow Cheshire."

The address in Wilmslow is Mr. Atkins' address, I have traced his family
back to Bexley, Dartford, Kent and am wondering what his connection was to
I have also found that Oliver Atkins's maternal Grandfather (William D Pitt)
was an Undertaker in 1899 in Dartford and wondered if he could have been
The telephone books have told me O.W.H. Atkins lived at No. 34 Grange Park
Avenue, Wilmslow from 1960-1970 and thereafter I found him living in
Guildford, London?  I also found his death in 2003 in West Surrey.

Or could he have been an Executor of her Will, if she had one.  Could he
have been her Solicitor?

Would anyone have any records relating to this period which may show his
occupation? Has anyone got a Death Certificate of this period and area with
his name on it?

As you can see, I really would like to know his association with her, as she
had no children and her husband pre-deceased her in 1956.

Any help very much appreciated.
