You don't say if you know his date of death. There are 2 possibles on
FreeBMD and Cheshire BMD dying in Congleton between 1861 and 1871.
I've failed to find him on the 1881 census with the information you give.

Subject: [CHS] Fw: John LEA, b.1835 Odd Rode
Hello List: I am hoping that someone can help me find the correct marriage
for John LEA b.1835 in Odd Rode. I have found a few in the late 1870's and
one in 1881, but it is difficult to know which one for sure is correct. John
was a tailor in the 1871 Census. I have not been able to find him after that
date...I thought I had some time ago but was silly enough not to save the
image and now I cannot find him again. Although he was born in Odd Rode, the
son of John LEA and Margaret BATEMAN, I believe that the later census image
I found, that he was outside of Cheshire...I thought Staffordshire, but as I
said, I can no longer find him.
If anyone can help out, I would appreciate it very much.
