I tried to get my Grandfather's death certifate, and had three possibilitie.
Once I provided his birthday (most unusually, 29 Feb 1888, a leap year) the ONS looked at all thrree, but charged me for only one.
 
I used my debit card so can see (on a daily basiis) when a withdrawal has beem made so I know it will arrive soon, via Royal Mail.

Which reminds me. Two days ago I attempted to obtain an online birth
certificate through the Cheshire Free BMD site for FAULKNER Leonard
Edward Arthur, Malpas, Cheshire West,  MAL/4/81 and ticked the open
box for an online certificate, which led me to the next page, but
nothing came up after that. Tried several times without success. Are
certs not available online through this medium? I then ordered it
through the GRO.
