Hi James,

This might be way off, but could it be referring to Dean Row Chapel? It's a
bit of a walk, but if you go from Adlington down Mill Lane & past Adlington
Hall, you just keep going until you come to Dean Row. It's probably the
nearest non-conformist chapel to Adlington and baptisms may also have been
noted at Prestbury as that was the mother church for CofE. In later years
(1860's onwards) there are baptisms registered there for people from Butley,
Newton & Woodford, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Is it possible that the parents in question were employed at Adlington Hall?
That would put them much closer to Dean Row. There wasn't a chapel at
Adlington Hall, so that's ruled out.

It would be a toss up which was closer to Adlington village - Prestbury or
Dean Row (in walking terms that is).

Regards

Lesley

Hello Listers,

I wondered if anyone had previously come across a reference to Adlington
Chapel.

I have found references to Adlington Chapel whilst looking at the fiche for
St Peters Church in Prestbury in the 1700s e.g.

1767 - ADLINGTON CHAPEL
Deanrow??? Mary base bon daughter of John RIDGWAY reputed father.

Page 172
1769 - ADLINGTON CHAPEL - Christening
L. Withington??? Samuel??? Son of John and Martha HOUGH

I wondered if anyone had come across this before and knew any information
about the chapel itself. I also wondered if anyone had written a history of
the Adlington, in Cheshire area.

Thank you in advance.
Jim
