I would suggest looking at :--

1. Choose "B" for Births.
2. Choose "Soundex ON"
3. Unfortunately you can't look any earlier than 1837 with this website

I found over 60 hits for the period 1837 up to 1863 - none of which were
spelled "Malloy"

There were "Anns" and "Catherines" 1853 to 1856.for the two districts you
asked for - namely Birkenhead and Tranmere.
You need to match your names with the results, and try to determine the
spelling of the name at the time.
