<<snipped>>
I am particularly interested in finding out burial/cremation records for
Richard Hough (b. Appleton 1829)
<<snipped>>

FamilySearch Pilot site (
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=120379
8302736 ) has

Name: Richard Hough
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 11 Aug 1904
Burial Place: Grappenhall, Cheshire, England
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: B07202-8
System Origin: Part 1 - 1
Source Film Number: 1656398
Reference Number: p 34
Collection: England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991

Film 1656398 is "Parish registers for Grappenhall, 1748-1932" (also "Parish
registers for Harthill, 1730-1836" but I presume from burial place that this
is not it). Grappenhall CofE is St. Wilfrid, according to GENUKI.

Also this:
Name: Richard Hough
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 31 Jul 1868
Burial Place: Grappenhall, Cheshire, England
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: B07202-8
System Origin: Part 1 - 1
Source Film Number: 1656398
Reference Number: p 177
Collection: England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991

And this
Name: Richard Hough
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 05 May 1867
Burial Place: Grappenhall, Cheshire, England
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: B05098-4
System Origin: Part 1 - 1
Source Film Number: 1655824
Reference Number: item 1 p 170
Collection: England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991

1655824 is Bishop's transcripts for Grappenhall, 1596-1890

There are also 2 Aaron Houghs there.

I am unclear from your mail whether you have found these and expect to see
gravestones or want plot details.

Depending on the money in the family, the expectation for gravestones at
that time is anywhere between zero and probable. As for the location of the
plots, unless marked with stones, I find churches either profess not to know
where plots are or retain only some info, usually for later years, often
kept privately (not unreasonably).
