Good evening Listers,

Thank you to everyone who replied to my posting regarding John Booth Jones,
from Chester, Cheshire. A convict who was transported Down Under, far away
from his family and friends and who out of dispair made good. I wonder if
any of JBJ's family joined him Down Under, after he had established himself.
There does appear to be a Henry Owen Jones born circa 1803, most likely in
England. He died of 25th May 1854 aged 51 and it appears that his wife was
Grace. There is no record his marriage to Grace in New South Wales, or the
birth of two sons I found who died here in 1916 and 1914, one John and the
other William:-

Deaths:-
16087/1916 JONES JOHN Father HENRY O Mother GRACE died at NEWTOWN

13807/1914 JONES WILLIAM
Father:- HENRY O No mother died at GOULBURN

I have a felling that Henry Owen Jones could be a brother or cousin of JBJ
and the two sons John and William were born in England, not sure if Grace
came out with them. However I did find a death of a Grace Jones in the
Southern Tablelands town of Goulburm where William Jones died, this could be
the death of their mother:-
8556/1866 JONES GRACE M Father GEORGE Mother MARY died at GOULBURN

I mentioned that four of JBJ's sons became solicitors, and daughter married
a Solicitor, and two daughters married into the Clergy, another daughter
married the English born son of Captain Henry Brown Mason RN of Bath
Somerset (H. B. Mason was a Magistrate in Yateley in Hampshire at the time
of the 1851 Census, and also Commander in the Royal Navy).

Thanks again to every one who responded to my post, and now I will try and
see if I can find more about JBJ's parents and his family he left behind in
England.

Cheers
Janice
