Thanks to Mike and Kathy,

I now realise how to use the schedule number.

Each household occupies 2 pages in the census returns ... the detail of the
occupants and another page which gives a name and address. Add to this
several "admin" pages at the start and a rough idea of the position of each
schedule in the whole enumeration district can be obtained. The actual page
number will usually be a littlereater than double the schedule number becuse
of the admin pages.
