Thank you for this information. I too wondered if the petitioners were worried about SIDEBOTTOM`s family being a burden on the parish – and it does seem very short sighted of the authorities not to realise this. I suppose though that if he hadn`t been transported he would have been in prison for a considerable time giving the same result.
