Subject: [CHOCTAW-SE] Harriet Forehand (Forehon)

I am looking for Harriet Forehand (Forehon) who was part Indianm tribe
un-known but it has been said she was Choctow. Other stories has her as Creek
or
Cherokee.

The name Harriet Forehon was given as the Mother of William M. Maloy on his
death certificate. It is believed the Forehon surname may have orginally
been Forehand.

A Harriet Maloy is shown in the 3rd Division of Holmes Co., FL 1850 census
Page 281. Also a Harriet Maloy is shown in the 4th District of the 1850
Census for Jackson Co., FL, page 3110. She probably lived close to the County
line and was counted twice.

According to the 1850 Census for Jackson Co., FL., Harriet Maloy was 30 years
old at that time. Her place of birth was listed as GA.,
Here are some facts to consider:

Harriet was b: 1820 (according to the 1850 Census)
William Sr. (Her Spouse) was b: 1822 ( Shown on William Jr.'s death
certificate)
William Jr. was b: 1840 (Shown on William Jr.'s death certificate)
William Jr.'s death certificate - shows Mother as Harriet Forhon.

Then:
Harriet was 20 years old when William Jr. was born in 1840
William Sr. was 18 years old when William Jr. was born in 1840.

Since Harriet was not shown in the Holmes and Jackson Co., FL Census for
1860, there are these possibilities:

1. She may have moved to another area.
2. She may have married and changed her name.
3. She may have been living with another family in 1860.
4. She may have been deceased.

According to a family story told to me by Oscar Edward Maloy, a
great-grandson, Harriet Forehon, wife of William Maloy Sr. was either whole
or part Choctow Indian. However, this has not been confirmed

The following is a possible theory, - - <Not To Be Taken As Fact>

17 year old William, Sr. met 19 year old Harriet Forhon in FL and married.
William Jr. was born 23 December 1840 in an area of Escambia Co. which became
Santa Rosa Co. in 1842.

Since 30 year old Harriet is shown as being alone in Jackson Co., FL in 1850,
she and and William Sr. apparently had parted and William married Sarah
Lawson who was also born in FL. At some point William and Sarah moved to
Hancock Co., MS, but Sarah didn;t like it and William took her back to FL.

Later William Sr. moved on to LA where he died in 1904.

William Jr. and family stayed in Hancock Co., MS until after January 1880
when Albert Otha Maloy was born, then the family moved north following the
timber trades and settled in Forrest Co.

Can anyone identify this Harriet Forehon (Forehand)

Any leads willbe appreciated!
