Subject: [CHOCTAW-SE] Update KING KEATON KELTON BILLINGSLEY RITTER POTTER TN NC SC AR MO 1800s

What I had forgotten to mention in my post: John C King and Martin King
were members of the Webster Co Missouri Home Guard (Union). They were
killed by Confederate sympathizers. A cousin is sending me the written
account of the incident. Although I do know Missouri was a state deeply
divided by pro-Union and pro-Confederate factions, I also realize that an
added reason for the incident could likely have been these men's heritage.
Regarding Cherokee being a "more accepted tribe", I meant in terms if
someone "looked Indian" and couldn't "hide" it, they would many times say
they were Cherokee, as they were a more "civilized" tribe, though this was
no guarantee of their safety.
