I think your GGrandfather may have been with Ringling during the same time
period as my grandparents. I'm searching also and have little verified yet,
and no hard evidence, e.g. photos, etc. Has your search turned up any
photos?

Bethlehem Pa area where they lived in the 1920's & 30's.
