Charles filed the pension on 6/11/1873, Rebecca filed the widow's pension on 10/19/1916.

His arrival date of 1861 explains why he was not in the 1860 US Census. You
may be out of luck on descendents since in 1880 there are no children
listed. Don“t know when he was married though. I noted that the
Naturalization was for Charles M Grainger not Charles H Grainger could be a
typo -- too many things point to the Naturalization with OMahony and the
Capt in the Army being one and the same. Bill: when was the Rebecca pension
filed?
