To get the full picture one needs to look at Irish participation in the
Confederate Army. There were many Irish units formed throughout the South.

An Irish actor wrote the verse to "The Bonnie Blue Flag" and another Irish
immigrant pulished it in his newpaper in Jackson, Mississippi.
