Subject: Army of the Cumberland in Cincinnati, Ohio

Hello,

My GGGG grandfather, Edwin Henry Winchell served in the Civil War in the
quartermasters department, shipping goods to the Army of the Cumberland.

Edwin was born in Pittsfield,Mass so we assume that he entered the army from
Mass.

How do we go about getting his Military records, through the state or through
the national archives? Also, what is the Army of the Cumberland?
