The Confederate Roster, which is a transcription of the National
Archives microfilm of the Index to Compiled Service Records for
Confederate Soliders, lists B. F. Bowls as being in Co F, 6th MO Cav.
This would be about as close as you can come to a roster. You did not
indicate where you obtained the information that you gave, but if it is
from the National Archives, you'll probably not find anything more. If
you want to see all the cards in the military record for him and you have
not done so, you can request these from the National Archives using the
Form-80. The file will cost about $10. You could save yourself this
amount if your local library offers the service of orderning the roll of
microfilm from the Natinal Archives on interlibrary loan. You could then
look at all the cards yourself and photocopy them. If you library does
not offer this service, i think most LDS Family History Centers will order
for you. The appropriate roll will be found on p. 122 of the National
Archives' Military Service Records Catalog, under 6th Cav. It is
micirocopy 322, roll 41.

If you are interested in unit information, the Official Records will have
numerous references that you can look at. You might also try to locate
a set of the old Confederate Veteran magazins and look for references to
both your ancestor and the unit. Then there is the Missouri volume of the
Confederate Military History.. for information about the unit. Wilson's
Creek National Battlefield, 6424 West Farm Road # 182, Republic, MO
65738-9514, has both of these references and would do a look-up for you
upon your request.

The Ozarks Genealogical Society's publication, Confederate Organizations,
Officers, and Posts, Missouri units, has the 6th Regt. MO Cav under the
command of Col. John T. Coffee, Col. G. W. Thompson, Col. Moses W. Smith
and Lt. Col. Jams C. Hooper at various times. The Regt. was organized for
Confederate service about Nov. 9, 1862. There was also a 6th Mo Cav.
commanded by Col. Quint Peacher and another by Col. Wm. G. Phelan. Tis is
the problem with MO Confederate Units, no simple organizational structure.
