Subject: 8th Massachusetts Battery railroad accident

Would anybody be willing to help me?
On June 25, 1862 two Massachusetts artillery soldiers were killed in a
railroad
accident. I am trying to locate any article(s) concerning the railroad
accident as
it occurred in Trenton, New Jersey. The men that were killed were part
of an
artillery battery from Boston. The Eighth (Cook's) Massachusetts
Artillery
Battery, while traveling through Trenton on a train were wrecked several
miles
outside of the city. Two men (Hosea Packard of Easton and George B.
Smith
of Boston)were killed and several others were injured. I'm interested to
know
how the event was covered in Easton and Boston newspapers. I would also
like to know if any letters from the soldiers involved in the wreck were
published in the local papers describing the event.
I would like to obtain any local newspaper coverage for the event,
including the
return of the two dead men's remains to Boston. The event took place on
June 25, 1862. I would assume that coverage of the accident in the
Easton
and Boston area newspapers would begin by the 27th, allowing for the
news
to travel.
Could someone help me with this project?
Maybe even just a hint as to the names of the newspapers in those areas
in 1862.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and efforts,
