Billy,
On 1 May 1775, the Lovely Nellie departed Dumfries, Galloway for St. John's Island (PEI) , ship master William Sheridan.
Aboard were the following;
#34. James Douglas, age 57 , labourer, male, New Abby, Galloway.
#35. Jannet Neish, age 53, wife, female, New Abby, Galloway.
#36. James Douglas, age 8, son, male, New Abby, Galloway.
#45. William Douglas, age 21, labourer, male, Kirkboan, Galloway
#46. John Douglas, age 25, labourer, male, Kirkboan, Galloway.

I found the following marriage;
James Douglas, 4 Feb. 1762, Kirkcudbright, Scotland
Janet Nish, 4 Feb. 1762, New Abby, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

Janet Nish, born to James McNish and Margaret Newell, 1722, Colvend, Kirkcudbright.
This was possibly a second marriage?

Would James parents and his birthplace be on their license?
Did they have to have a sponsor or a relative to come to in the U.S.?
How could their family contact them in the U.S.?

How can I find the place to send for their marriage papers?
I would like to find anyone related to this couple or the other two young men , who could be related to James Douglas.

Thank you , Dorothy Sumner
