SKS help please: any kin out there in Fraser-land?
I have contacted the Nairn Library repeatedly by snail
mail, e-mail and telephone, from Canada. The dear lady there has
provided various reasons for not being able to follow through with
helping me.
Most SKS's have been very kind in assisting in other areas, especially
when they are visiting the site already and it is not an inconvenience.
My repayment comes in the form of the fact that I am retired, have more
time than a clock at hand, and can do on-line research to the extent
that the data exists there. I am non-commercial and do not post data at
any site. All my helpers have been more than satisfied with the help I
offer.
>I am searching for my great grandfather and his line up the Fraser pole. >The following persons:
William Fraser [b.c. 1851; Nairn and d.c. 1911; Nairn]. The Frasers
lived in Nairn at 18 Acre St., Nairn, around the corner on High St..
They may have lived on High St., immediately following their marriage
and then moved around to Acre St.. They lived there all their lives as
best as I can determine. William married Mary Ann Swan [I have all her
particulars: Branderburgh...registered, June 20, 1863, in Drainie. Reg'n
signed by Al Wiseman. And those of the Swan lineage] August 3, 1888;
"the church at Inverness," Inverness, Moray, Scotland. Following
William's death, Mary and her family came here to Canada in late 1920
aboard the Saturnia. Issue: Alexander, Katie, Jessie, John William and
Mary.
On their marriage cert. it gives William's parents as John Fraser and
Jessie Fraser. Further research noted that they may have been close
cousins, not that Jessie Fraser was named that way as his wife. I am
well aware of naming patterns in Scotland and the "switch abouts" for
names like Jessie to Janet, et al. And still, further research, notes
that she may have been from ??? Kiltarlity, Inverness, Scotland.
Although none of this is "gospel." They were married June 29, 1849;
Petty, Inverness, Scotland.
So, the issue is trying to track down the members of this particular
Fraser line, get as many details as possible about kin and such, and
confirm what I already have.
Thanks in advance and desperately seeking help.
