Hi Jannie and everyone:
I don't think Brian, still being a bit new as an Admin, will mind
my bit of advice to the list in this regard.......
As this is something that others may experience from time to
time... no mail... I am sending this for the benefit of all, not
just Jannie. You may want to save this message where you
can easily find it.
Rather than send a message that merely says "test" to test
if the mail is going through... which Rootsweb recommends
not be done .... there are alternatives to accomplish the same
thing.
1) Check the archives:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/CLAN-HUNTER/
-- if there is mail there, then the issue is not with Rootsweb,
but rather your own email program or your ISP. OR you may,
for some reason no longer be subscribed to the list.
a) Your mail may be filtered to your spam or other folder,
rather than your in box.
b) Your ISP may be blocking the mail for some reason.
c) Check password central to see if your address is still
subscribed to the list.

2) Check the archives:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/CLAN-HUNTER/
-- if there is no mail there, then there may simply be a slowdown
in mail and folks are occupied with things other than posting to
the list.
Solution: Send a message with appropriate content to the list. You will
automatically receive a copy of your message.
If you do not receive a copy:
3) Check the archives:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/CLAN-HUNTER/
-- if there is a copy of your email there, then the issue is not with Rootsweb,
but rather your own email program or your ISP. OR you may, for some
reason no longer be subscribed to the list.
a) Your mail may be filtered to your spam or other folder,
rather than your in box.
b) Your ISP may be blocking the mail for some reason.
-- if there is not a copy of your email there, then the issue is not with Rootsweb,
but rather your own email program or your ISP. OR you may, for some
reason no longer be subscribed to the list. OR your message was "unacceptable"
for some reason.
a) Check password central to see if your address is still
subscribed to the list.
http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/
b) Check your email box for a notice stating your message "bounced" for
some reason:
1) sent to Rootsweb in other than plain text format
2) sent with an attachment -- the list software does not
accept attachments
3) message too large for list parameters -- break to smaller
parts and resend
And always... when something seems other than it should, pay a visit to the Help Desk
and check to see if STAFF has posted an alert. Some issues are intermittent and resolved
quickly and will not be noted. Others that are more stubborn or long term or widespread
or beyond Rootsweb's control will be listed in a yellow box.

If you have tried all the steps above and are still having problems, you can contact the list
administrator off list at and you can also contact the
Help Desk for assistance. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/
I hope this information is helpful to you.
Yours Aye,
Lauren
