James-
Since we last corresponded, I have uncovered some more undocumented clues
which might help me track my SC Claytons into VA:
- As you may recall, I have documented my Claytons to William Clayton (b.
1761 in VA, married Elizabeth Langley, died in SC 1845. His parents were
Jesse Clayton and Anne Carter Clayton. His grandfather was John Clayton b.
in England, died in VA. (no dates available)
- Evidently William had two brothers: Philip Clayton and Stephen Clayton.
(could this be your Philip???)
- Also one distant relative related that he had heard that our SC Claytons
were related to John Clayton, Attorney General of Virginia ( aren't you
related to him?)

You mention William Willis Clayton, parents John and Elizabeth Willis
Clayton... what else do you know about him......I notice you have a book on
VA Clayton's...... Does it include any of my Claytons? Does any of this
connect to your information?
